"Determined women tackle their first triathlon" was the headline on the front page of The River Current News. We were all excited to pack up our gear and head to Chelan with our families to give the Tri a Try. Even though I knew I couldn't compete with my strained calf muscle, I still felt very much a team member with these great gals. We met at Safeway to follow each other on the road. I laughed at the idea that we would all actually arrive in Levenworth for lunch at the same time with all the potty breaks, but we all had to go at the same rest stop and had happy kids all the way there! We shopped and ate and of course had to get some salt water taffy. Back on the road again to Chelan where we unpacked our bags and the ladies went to sign in for the triathlon. It was fun to see everyone all nervous and excited while we figured out the course. Greg was able sign up in my place. He had no training but does find time to bike and run occasionally. I was happy to have a family member to cheer for. I don't think anyone got much sleep but morning still came to soon. Everyone did so great in the race! I was so proud of everyone, they were a team helping each other along. I can't wait till next year!
After the race we came back "home" to swim in the pool and nap. The kids scootered, biked, watched movies with popcorn while the parents celebrated. Daver even jumped the neighbors fence for a quick jump on the trampoline. Did you ever get your 10 bucks Mardi?
The water park was a blast! It took some time for the kids to all get brave enough to go down a few. Once they were convinced, we had to drag them home.
